Some styles of door knob will have another thin slot that requires a small screwdriver to free the cover from the door. Take your flat philips screwdriver and place it in the gap. The door handle will now slide off. You should see a tiny slot or hole.

Turn each screw holding the knob body to the door with a phillips. Push the tip of a narrow screwdriver into the hole. If any screws are exposed during this process remove them to release the lock and remove it from the door. Slide the cosmetic faceplate away from the door.

If not rotate the faceplate until the underlying screws are accessible and use a phillips head screwdriver to remove them. After applying some pressure you can pull the door knob towards you. Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware. Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole.

How to remove a door knob without screws or a latch. Once triggered the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door. Depending on the door handle design the faceplate may be able to slide completely off. Locate the hole underneath the doorknob shaft.
